And here I thought I would be able to post on here more often... Ha!


Well at least I have been able to keep up with my Youtube channel which is not so bad.
Here's the latest video that that took me hours upon hours to freakin' upload because either youtube was stupid or my computer...

Other than the videos, I finally received the State Exam questions that I have to study for to be able to graduate in February. There are some tough ones in there.

I'm not sure how it works in other countries but in my school, even though it's an Anglo-American university, they use the Czech system for the graduation procedure.

There is the thesis defense of course, in front of the graduation committee and then we have an oral exam. I have to study 15 questions related to my major and then I randomly choose two and answer those.

Apart from that there really isn't that much to say at the moment. I'm pretty much working on stuff for school and I am going to maybe start an independent project as well, Mexico related. I'll see how that goes and if anything comes out of it I'll post it here. (^_^)

Oh and my thesis is going to be on Glee! I was thinking about doing something Japan related but I liked the concept I came up with using Glee and the theorists I'm going to use to analyze the show.

It should be fun... and stressful , very stressful

Well that's really it for now! And I'm sorry for the lack of visiting my friends' journals (u_u)

I'll do better!

So this weeks video is full of 48s, Johnnys and some Perfume to balance out a bit (^_^). It took me a bit longer in the editing process because I decided to play around with sound effects. There aren't many but I'm happy with them.

Oh and I finally FINALLY, watched GANTZ. I watched the first part last night and I will watch the second part later today. I promised my brother I would wait for him. I knew he would like it.

No big spoilers will be present.

I remember watching Hey!Say!JUMP on a Hey!Hey!Hey! special where one of the hosts commented on how many they were in the group and joked that they would be loosing some members throughout the years anyway.

Well he wasn't far off the mark.

Although I never really thought it would be Morimoto-kun. But there you have it, who ever took those photos was obviously not a friend to the kid.

What does this mean for his future career though?

I am currently uploading a video on youtube where I mention this a bit but I wanted to go a bit more in detail here.

We all know what happened to Kusano and Uchi after their underage drinking incident, they were also suspended, afterward brought back into Johnny's as juniors and Uchi now does solo project and I think Kusano is somewhere studying in New York.

As for Morimoto-kun it will probably follow a similar path because I highly doubt they will let him back in HSJ. Johnny-san seems just too strict on that point.

And while some fans have been saying that it was smoking instead of drinking and this might help his situation, I highly disagree. In fact I think it might hurt him more.

 

Underage drinking is a very big deal for idols in Japan, but once they reach 20 then it doesn't matter if they are known to drink, are seen drinking or even drink on TV. The only problem would be if they are caught making a scene while being very, very drunk. But otherwise, they even talk about drinking on various shows and even have interesting anecdotes about their drunken adventures (while being of the drinking age).

When it comes to smoking, in Johnny's especially, it is a completely different story. You don't see Johhny's doing cigarette commercials or even anti-cigarette commercials, they aren't seen smoking on TV unless they are playing a character who smokes. They don't even talk about smoking on any shows and I know that there are Johnny's out there who smoke, they can't ALL be non-smokers.

In this case we see that Johnny's seems to draw a line between these to habits. It's okay for an idol to drink but we can't have him having the image of smoking.

What is it about drinking and smoking that's different? I'm not sure, but for them there is definitely a difference.

And how this will affect Morimoto-kun in the future we will just have to wait and see. His brother is still part of the agency so it will be interesting to see how things work out on that side as well.

Arashi Fandom Project

So I'm hoping to upload a new J-Entertainment video sometime this week.

Maybe I'll have time on Thursday to film something, even if it does have to be unedited...

Anyway, today was my presentation on the Arashi International fandom and it was actually quite fun. The only thing was that I was supposed to present for 40 min max and I ended up talking for like an hour! =S 

I couldn't help myself, since there are so many things that people wouldn't understand if they don't know at least a little bit of how j-pop works and functions. And if you don't know Johnny's... well I needed to leave them informed.

On the bright side since I was the first to present (not by choice, I lost the choose the number I'm thinking game and I was left with being the first person and having the shortest amount of time to prepare) I wasn't going to be graded as harshly. But I think I made some of my classmates nervous, which I guess is a good thing.
 
[info]melonpanpoi  made me an awesome introduction video about the group, the members and the fandom. She did a great job and I am totally indebted to her for it.

I also want to make a video, a much shorter version of my presentation. It will probably be easier because it will be fans who will be watching and I won't have to go into too much detail.

I still have a few final papers I have to work on, a final exam, and I just e-mailed my final article for my reporting class. Oh and I have a few more important meeting for SC to get to!

I need to focus on my thesis topic as soon as possible so I can start doing research. AND on thursday I am meeting with a professor to talk about possible future study options.
Oh and I want to organize my f-list on lj, teach myself how to use photoshop AND STUDY MORE JAPANESE. That's going to be my main focus for the summer I think. AFTER I get the intesive 2 week summer semester over with.

God I'm such a glutton for punishment. I should also check the journals on my f-list and comment... I'm such a bad friend I'm SORRY.

I'll try to do better in that department.
In the meantime I'm gonna take a short break!

Wahhh!!!

My web presence has been almost zero for over a month now, maybe even two.

I really miss it. I usually take a long time preparing to make videos but lately when I do have free time I am just so exhausted that I don't want to do anything else.

I have to find a way to balance it. I'll try a new technique today when I get home for making videos. Maybe it will help. And when I do have time I'll invest more to make the videos the way I really want to make them.

I don't want to let my viewers down I really don't, but I don't want to be sloppy either.

Anyway on another note, I am working on a research project for my Fandom class. I really love this class. I am working on an Arashi fandom project and so far the fandom has been great about filling out the online survey. I posted it on [info]arashi_on .

And now I have to continue with school stuff. I have a Student Council meeting soon, but before that I need to interview a teacher for an article and then write the damn thing!

Oh and I want a J-Entertainment News logo or something but I don't know how to use Photoshop well enough. Any ideas?

I hope to transition into being a visible part of online j-entertainment fandom smoothly.

 Hey guys,

First day of Spring semester went alright. 

Student Council meeting was a little tiring. Sometimes people don't know when to shut up (>_<).

But on the upside tomorrow is my Fandom class and I have Japanese in the evening. It should be fun!

 So I am finally returning to the internet world!

Part of the reason I was gone from lj for so long was really because the space bar on my computer along with some other keys just stopped working. You have no idea how frustrating that can be. I didn't want to write anything because it would take double the effort.

Now I finally sent my computer to get fixed and in the meantime I will be using my dad's laptop. He also has a MacBook so I feel more comfortable with it somehow.

I am also returning to uploading youtube videos which is great! I missed it. And a video is being uploaded at this very moment. Once it is up I will put it up on lj as well.

I haven't been a good lj friend lately so I need to take some time to go through journals and comment more. I go through these phases where I tend to comment less. I need to get better at that.

Anyway, the new semester starts tomorrow and one of the classes I am looking forward to the most is my Fandom class. That should be interesting. I'm all about fandoms after all.

Well this is all I have for today. I hope more interesting things come up worth writing about.

Wa!!!

So like the title says I am still freakin' busy, even more so since I became elected Student Council President. See this shows you that I like to suffer I guess.

I have to organize some stuff for school and I really did to up it up on my Japanese studying. Esai-san has already given me some textbooks that I will be borrowing for the time being.

Besides all that I have another youtube video up which is more Vloggy than my normal videos but I kinda like it.
